Causes

  • Center for Hearing and Communication – a not-for-profit organization committed to improving the quality of life for people with hearing loss.  Kassie DePaiva (Blair) regularly sells “Happy Hats” that she makes to raise money for this cause.  The hats are sold on her website.
  • One Life Many Voices – After Hurricane Katrina, members of the One Life to Live cast banded together to create a compilation CD to benefit those affected by the disaster.  The One Life, Many Voices Foundation’s mission is to help those affected by Katrina to “recover through the arts.”
  • The Willie-Coppee Fund – a joint charitable endeavor between Emmy award-winning actress Hillary B. Smith (Nora) and her good friend, television writer and multiple-best-selling author Lindsay Harrison, and services clients of the CA-based Sherman Oaks Veterinary Group.
  • The Gabriel Project – Founded by sixth grade teacher Mark J. Melamed in 1990, the objective of this non-profit organization is to provide life-saving heart surgery to a child from an area where such surgery is not available.  Click here to read more about The Gabriel Project’s efforts.  Many One Life to Live actors and their daytime colleagues participate in fundraising efforts for this cause, including Kamar de los Reyes (Antonio).
  • Imperial Court of New York – The mission of the Imperial Court of New York is to raise funds for organizations including but not limited to those supporting the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender community; HIV/AIDS services organizations; social service organizations and youth enrichment programs.  Visit their “Mission” page to see a list of direct beneficiaries.  Robin Strasser (Dorian) is a Dame of the Imperial Court.
  • Childhelp – a national non-profit organization dedicated to helping victims of child abuse and neglect and at-risk children through advocacy, prevention, treatment and community outreach.  Crystal Hunt (Stacy) is an Official Ambassador for Childhelp USA.
  • Kiva – Kiva’s mission is to connect people, through lending, for the sake of alleviating poverty.  Kiva empowers individuals to lend to an entrepreneur across the globe.   • The American Cancer Society‘s Research Funding Department – The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.  Each year, Jerry verDorn (Clint) hosts Daytime Stars and Strikes, a bowling event attended by many of his fellow cast members and other daytime alumni as well as fans to raise money for this cause.
  • Trevor St.John (Todd) has a list of charities that he recommends contributing to on his blog.

  • Robin Strasser (Dorian) linked several animal advocacy organizations in her “Auto-BLOG-raphy” after the passing of her beloved dog, Scooter.
